Project: Lincoln MKC Concept Car Interior
Time: 2015
Credit: Interior Design Manager
I guided the aesthetic development of the Lincoln MKC interior, leading a team of young designers and drawing inspiration from fluidity and roominess. Key features include a "cantilevered" electronic finish panel and an optional flow-through second-row center console. I emphasized maximizing space to achieve a minimalist, cohesive, and visually spacious design.

In this design I used linear shapes and organic motifs, enhancing visual harmony. This approach emphasized Lincoln's four key components, portraying elegance and sophistication.

We developed three themes of a multifunctional center console. Designed for optimal space utilization, it serves as an armrest and incorporates a rotational mechanism, housing all electronic components for a sleek, high-tech user experience.
Theme A | Design Philosophy: Transitional Aeronautic
The transitional aeronautic inspiration ensured that the interior not only looks futuristic but also functions efficiently, providing a seamless blend of style and practicality. This design philosophy aims to elevate the driving experience, offering a sophisticated and technologically advanced environment.
Theme B | Design Philosophy: Structural Elegance
This theme emphasizes bold, artistic forms that create a visually striking and dynamic car interior. This approach uses sweeping curves, seamless integration of technology to craft a cohesive, immersive environment that feels both luxurious and futuristic.
Theme C | Design Philosophy: Sculptural Innovation
The dashboard and center console feature sweeping curves and dynamic shapes that flow into the door panels, creating a cohesive, immersive, and visually striking interior. This approach uses advanced materials and seamless technology integration for a luxurious, futuristic feel

By evolving each design and creating 3D models, we identified the theme that works least for the final objective, which is to achieve a perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and user experience. This iterative process allows for fine-tuning of design elements, ensuring that the final interior is not only visually stunning but also practical and comfortable for everyday use.

Clay Modeling: Build a full-scale clay model for physical visualization and adjustments.
Rapid Prototyping: Use 3D printing for parts and components.
Interior Mock-up: Our modeling team created an interior mock-up so we can test ergonomics and user experience.
Clay Models were created to refine the concept and test functionality, aesthetics, and usability. This process facilitated further evaluation and adjustments based on user feedback before moving on to final theme, ensuring that the design meets all specifications and effectively addresses user needs.
