Ford Motor Company owned a product design company called Ingeni in 2001. Ingeni was established in London and served as a creative think tank and design studio. It was tasked with exploring advanced design concepts and innovative solutions that could be applied to Ford's various automotive brands. Ingeni's role was to push the boundaries of design and technology, reflecting Ford's commitment to forward-thinking and cutting-edge developments in the automotive industry. I was part of the design team for the first two years of Ingeni and was brought to London from Dearborn, Michigan for my first foreign assignment.
In 2001, Ford Motor Company owned several car brands as part of its Premier Automotive Group (PAG) and other subsidiaries. These included:
Aston Martin - Acquired in 1987.
Jaguar - Acquired in 1989.
Land Rover - Acquired in 2000.
Volvo - Acquired in 1999.
Lincoln - A long-standing luxury division of Ford.
Mazda - Ford had a controlling interest in Mazda, though it did not own it outright.
These brands were part of Ford's strategy to diversify its portfolio and expand its presence in the luxury and premium vehicle markets. Ingeni supported all these brands and also worked with external brands.
